My Aunt Maria and Uncle Michael are incredibly talented artists. I've always admired how they could create something whimsical out of an ordinary everyday object. When I was growing up they lived in this cool warehouse down in San Bernardino, CA. At the front of the warehouse was a shop where they sold all sorts of beautiful handmade items including, if my memory serves me right, puppets. I still have a number of the lovely handmade gifts they gave me over the years, including a crocheted blue bird and this adorable little jack-o-lantern made out of a hollowed out walnut shell.
