The jeans quilt: an update

Just a quick peak at the completed top of the jeans quilt. I'm absolutely in love with the weight and soft feel of it.

The plan is to get it pin-basted by the end of the month for my November goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes. I think it will be quite lovely all quilted up!

    1. It's so soft!! All those old jeans really aged well. And years from now it will be even softer. xoxo

  2. I love the natural shading that the used denim provides. How do you plan to quilt it?
I can see how that quilt will become a favourite for whoever gets to snuggle underneath it.

    1. Hi, Elizabeth! Good question! I've been mulling over that very question for some time now. I think that because it's going to be so thick and heavy that the simplest route will be best, so I'm simply going to quilt along the seams for each row. That way, everything is anchored together nicely and the softness of the denim still really shines.

  3. I have been saving jeans to make a jeans quilt too. How many pair do you think you used? This is fantastic.

    1. Hi Diane! I originally cut up nine pairs (including two pairs of little boy jeans), then added maybe two more pairs later. I put the top together and still had quite a bit left over that I'm sure I'll use on another quilt later. Thanks for reading! xoxo

  4. That is coming together so nicely, loving the mix of dark and light denim. Can't wait to see it in its entirety.

    1. Thanks, Leanne! I need to get cracking on the quilting. It's so beautifully heavy, which sometimes saps my motivation to sit at my machine. :)
